Empty Orchestra’s music video for “The Audience” has been released and pre-orders for their album, “One More Time, All Together Now…” have gone up at The Risc Store.

Empty Orchestra’s new album for Pentimento Music Co., “One More Time, All Together Now…,” is a powerful new musical statement that is at once diverse and cohesive. Produced over the course of almost two years, this collection of songs was recorded in a variety of spaces in Chicago, Illinois, and in the band’s hometown of Flint, Michigan—including living rooms, bank vaults, basements, abandoned buildings, and professional recording studios—with longtime engineer and founding member Mark Michalik (the Swellers, Into It. Over It, We Are The Union). Over the album’s 12 diverse songs, Empty Orchestra’s legion of players (a dozen members contribute to recording, and the band operates as a musical collective in the studio) simultaneously define and defy labels like “Americana,” “punk,” “folk” and others with expert musicianship and impeccable songwriting.

So what is this album “about?” Well, the human condition, of course. The Big Things via the little things. It’s about the possibilities and limitations of community. It’s about the beautiful and dangerous act of performance. It’s about the politics and poetics of “home,” and what it means to be a part of a city or a band or a family. It’s about love, and labor unions, and violence.

So what does this album “sound like?” Well, it sometimes sounds like well-crafted indie / folk-rock—songs like “Broken Record” and “Trust Me” feature warm chords, pedal steel and harmonica. “The Audience” and “Lo and Behold!” on the other hand, are taut and angular, and hum with dark intensity. And acoustic-based songs like “No Such Place” and “We Have Ways of Making You Talk” deliver heartfelt yet cerebral lyrics with beautiful harmonies.

Genre-bending reggae/rock band Lionize have announced that they will release Superczar and The Vulture, their fifth album, and first on Pentimento Music Company on 12/6/11. The release sees Lionize heading back to Magpie Cage Recording Studio (Against Me!, The Promise Ring, Murder By Death) to record with the legendary J. Robbins. On it, they weave together 70s-influenced heavy psych rock riffs with reggae grooves and deeply soulful vocals, resulting in a record that both challenges and embraces the genres where it finds its roots.
Lionize spent this past summer as stand-outs on the Vans Warped Tour, and followed that success with a string of dates across the United States co-headlining with friends Larry and His Flask. This fall sees the band once again on the road, touring the country with labelmates Streetlight Manifesto, Rodeo Ruby Love and friends Reel Big Fish. Lionize are no strangers to the touring life, having spent the better past of the last decade touring virtually non-stop with the likes of Bad Brains, Clutch,Steel Pulse, and CKY among numerous others.

JUST ANNOUNCED FOR PRE ORDER: Toh Kay (Tomas Kalnoky of Streetlight Manifesto) has unveiled his new album “Streetlight Lullabies” - a collection of 10 Streetlight Manifesto songs recorded acoustically. These recordings came during downtime from the new Streetlight Manifesto recording sessions and after Toh Kay’s run of solo shows.
The album is available as a CD and as a vinyl LP. To go along with this release there is also a Toh Kay shirt, a poster, and a 7” vinyl single of “We Will Fall Together” with a Bad Religion cover by Toh Kay on the B Side. Included in some of the bundles is a screen printed poster that is hand signed and numbered by Toh Kay.
All packages and products can be purchased through The Risc Store (Http://www.theriscstore.com) . All orders will ship a few days before the actual album release of November 22nd.
